I just finished watching The Legend of Korra on Amazon Prime. First 3 seasons are part of Prime, 4th is not as of yet but you can purchase it. It was enjoyable but uneven. I promised myself I wouldn't go down the rabbit hole of pointing out all of the things that bugged me about the different story points because I enjoyed it more than not. Does it stand alone? As in, I don't have to watch the preceding show to follow it? It is a stand alone story but there's a lot of characters and history that come back from Avatar: The Last Airbender I probably wouldn't recommend it. I'm finding it exceedingly boring (squeaking through E2), so if anyone has comments on how great it gets, I'm all ears. It stays about the same. It's a relatively realistic dramatized history, so there's not a lot of drama they can throw in there aside from what actually happened. Most of the drama that does happen is the kind of stuff that only royals can get worked up over. Its well done, and doesn't seem to pull its punches with any of the characters except the queen (unless she really was just so boring that she has no dirt). She really only interacted with Quentin, and he didn't really believe Fillory was real until right before she died. If she had lived a natural life, she would have been a very old lady at this point too. The Brakebills people did know. I also think it was an easy to see through twist to camouflage the bigger twist that Martin was the Beast. I had already read the books so I can't say how exactly it played to someone who hasn't, but it seemed like they were very careful with how they revealed stuff. I'm into E4, and it's getting more interesting, as a bit of personal history. Guess it just takes more time because the various goings on aren't all that dramatic or surprising.
